Vaughn Edward Merillat

Vaughn Edward "Ed" Merillat, 96, passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2012. He was born to Lewis and Ora(Miller) Merillat on October 20, 1915 in Wells County. He married Carolyn(Sprunger) Merillat on December 19, 1941.

He was a member of the First Mennonite Church where he was an usher and sang in the chancel choir. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army. Ed enjoyed sports and visiting with people.

Survivors include daughters, Donna(Roy) Heatwole of Harrisonburg, Virginia, and Jeannine(Mark) Starks of Centerville, Ohio. Three grandchildren, Kelly Heatwole, Arlington, VA., Kyle(Kristen) Heatwole, Olney, MD., and Emily Starks, Columbus, OH. Also, great-grandchildren, Courtney and Dylan Heatwole. And a loving companion, Vera Culp.

Preceding in death are is wife, Carolyn a son, Kevin and a sister, Lillian Mason.

Funeral services are Monday at 12 noon at the Swiss Village Chapel with visitation from 10am to time of services at the chapel. Officiating is Pastor Jerry Flueckiger.

Burial is at the MRE Cemetery with full graveside military rites by the Berne Post #468.
